January Birchbox

Hello again!

I am back today with my Birchbox unboxing post.  I always get excited to get my subscription boxes every month.  It is like Christmas every month!  If you aren't aware of what Birchbox is, it is a $10 a month, monthly subscription service.  You get 4-5 deluxe samples every month selected based on your beauty profile.  It is a really fun way to get to try out higher end products and/or products you have never heard of or tried out.

This months theme is Go Time, meaning get your but in gear and actually get those New Years resolutions done! I have a couple resolutions for this year.  1. To eat better and healthier.  2. To try out new recipes at home and just be more adventurous with cooking.  What are your New Years resolutions?

1100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Mascara | Full-size, $18
All-natural lash-conditioning wonder that thickens and lengthens with real fruit pigments.  Use two coats for extra volume.  The nonirritating formula is ideal for sensitive eyes.

I was quite excited to get this in my box after seeing it featured in their sneak peak video.  This mascara smells amazing!  Who knew that a mascara could smell good? I have only worn it once, so I don't want to give my full opinion of it yet.  So far, it doesn't seem the most volumizing and it takes quite a while to build up to the amount of volume that I prefer.  I do like the big natural bristle brush that it has.

Sample worth: $7.71

2Nail Rock Glitter-Red | Full-size, $7
The UK brand's two-step system for your sparkliest mani ever.  Accent nail, anyone?  Use two coats of polish.  Dip wet nails into glitter pot, let dry 20 minutes, and shine on.

This is a really cool idea, I wish I had gotten another color, but for only $7, I would buy another color if I liked how this turned out.  They also have this in sequin, velvet and caviar manicure sets.

Sample worth: $7

3Lifestyle Extra: Ahmad Tea London | Full-size, $7
Beat the winter chill with tasty blends from a Buckingham Palace-approved British brand.  Steep 3-5 minutes in near-boiling water.

I don't know how much I can say this, but I really don't like tea and I am so annoyed that I get tea in my Birchbox almost every month!  They need to get more creative with their "lifestyle extras" because I always say I don't like tea in my reviews, but yet, here we are, more tea!  They used to included more fun items, but it seems lately that they are just getting lazy or something.  I guess I will toss this in my "I will never drink these" bag of tea bags.

Sample worth: $0.52

4Juara Candlenut Body Creme | Full-size, $35
Nourishing candlenut oil deeply penetrates for softer, smoother skin.  Apply generously when needed, paying special attention to dry areas like elbows and knees.

I can definitely use a good body lotion right now.  My skin has been extremely dry because of the frigidly cold weather here in Michigan.  Because of the packet, I don't want to open it until I am to use it.  I hope it smells amazing and softens my skin.

Sample worth: $0.87 (really?)

5Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk | Full-size, $18
Award-winning editor fave that absorbs grease and revives second-day hair.  Shake can.  Spray 10 inches from roots. Wait 2 minutes, massage into hair, and brush through.

I am always up for trying out new dry shampoos.  I cannot wait to try this one out and see if it works as well or better than the Garnier one.  It doesn't seem to have the greatest smell, but it is something I could live with.

Sample worth: $6.50

Total box worth: $22.60

This box is 50/50 for me.  I am excited about the mascara, dry shampoo and nail polish, but not that excited about the tea and the size of the lotion sample really turned me off.

I hope you enjoyed reading. Let me know in the comments what your New Years resolutions are for the year, I would really like to hear.

XOXO
Kristen
